Am I a good Candidate for LASIK?

Most people with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are good candidates for LASIK. However, the only way to know for certain is to schedule a complimentary assessment with Dr. Skouras. He will perform a number of tests to determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK, custom LASIK or another vision correction procedure.

After conducting your examination, Dr. Skouras will explain your options to you and give you detailed information regarding the results you can expect from your procedure.

About LASIK Surgery

Vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism occur as a result of an irregularly shaped cornea. The cornea is unable to focus light when it is not shaped properly. This inability to focus is what leads to vision problems that require glasses and contact lenses.

LASIK laser correction corrects these refractive errors by changing the shape of the cornea with a laser. During LASIK, the surgeon first makes a thin flap in the surface of the cornea. This causes minimal discomfort, if any, and takes just minutes. Most patients are able to see clearly within hours of LASIK surgery.
